Spring Rag Wreath

It's astonishing! I actually completed a second craft today and it turned out great! In case you are keeping track, that's two crafts in one day and neither one of them was a fail! I am so pleased.

I made the above rag wreath to match my spring/Easter decor. I keep seeing rag wreaths all over blog land and Pinterest so I figured I would try my hand at making one. It's pretty easy but I did manage to get a blister from cutting all the fabric into strips. I would love to make more of these, however, I am not sure how to make the cutting easier. Any tips would be appreciated.

If you are interested in making one on your own I am sure you could. If I can do it then anyone can do it. You will need several different fabrics that you will cut into 6in.x2in. strips. I give you that size but it's just an estimate. The strips don't have to be exact and they can be longer or shorter depending on the look you are going for. I also threw in a bit of tulle for a bit more texture. In total I used 6 different fabrics of about 1/4 to 1/3 yard each. I found all my fabrics in the remnant bin at Hobby Lobby and paid less than $7 for all of them.

You will also need a wire wreath form that looks like this:

You can buy these at Hobby Lobby or Joann's for less than $3.

The next step is pretty time consuming, but it can be done while watching TV. You simply knot your fabric strips all around the wreath form. I started in the center ring and went all the way around and then moved to the next larger ring and so on. I also tied my fabrics in a certain order so that my wreath would look uniform but I suppose you don't have to do it that way. You can get as creative as you want with this. Maybe you would want to turn it into a rainbow wreath for St. Patrick's Day so you would tie sections all in the same color to form blocks. You could also do it for your favorite sport's team! In fact, I am pretty sure I will be making one of these in black and gold to cheer on my Steelers this fall!

So, that's it. It's pretty easy to do and I promise you will love the results!

  2. Invest in a quilt cutter, it will help with the blisters. I want to make this wreath also, so cute.
